Southern Comfort (aka SoCo) is an American Fruit-Flavoured Whiskey Liqueur.
It was created in 1874 when a man called Martin Wilkes Heron flavored bourbon with honey, citrus and spices.
Heron created the liqueur whilst working at McCauley’s Tavern, a saloon in New Orleans’ French Quarter and patented the concoction in 1889 when he moved to Memphis.

It actually has a history of Russian persecution and the creators were forced to flee Russia.
